Don't miss taking your canine buddy on one of the many dog-friendly hikes throughout the greater Palm Springs area. Noted below, you'll find a few of CV PETS favorite hiking trails for both humans & your furry companions!
Murray Hill Trail
Location: Palm Springs, CA ( behind Vons, at Rimrock shopping plaza.)
About: One of our favorite dog-friendly hiking trails in the greater Palm Springs area. The hike starts at the east end of the Vons supermarket, at the Rimrock plaza of HWY 111 in Palm Springs, CA. From there, you will start up a hefty incline that will then branch off to many trails for exploring with your beloved pooch. The hikes range from moderate to hard in terms of difficulty, and run anywhere from 2-8 mile hikes. Gorgeous views of the Coachella Valley from several locations. We often see dogs off-leash, but recommend using a leash for safety purposes.
Earl Henderson Trail
Location: South Araby Drive, Palm Springs, CA.
About: A 2.9 mile lightly trafficked loop trail that is both dog and horse-friendly. It’s known for its wildflowers and is rated as moderate in terms of difficulty. Perfect for walking, hiking, birding, and nature trips. This trail has a 377 foot elevation gain, so hikers at any level will enjoy this scenic hike.
The Cross Trail
Location: Cap Homme/Ralph Adams Park, Palm Desert, CA.
About: A 2.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back dog-friendly (leashed,) trail located in Palm Desert, CA. This trail will definitely give you and your pooch a great workout, as the elevation gain is close to 650 feet. Incredible panoramic views of the entire Coachella Valley, and plenty of side trails for additional exploring.
NOTE: While these are fantastic trails to take your beloved pup on, please respect the trails that don’t allow dogs in efforts to protect and conserve the local Bighorn Sheep Population.
Lastly, DON’T FORGET TO CLEAN UP YOUR PUP’S POOP!
